Kieran O’Sullivan

I am a Character and Animation Technical Director working in video-games. I most recently worked on We Gotta Go!, Lynked: Banner of the Spark, Watch Dogs: Legion, Far Cry: Primal, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry: Blood Dragon. Across various projects I have overseen the development of facial performance capture pipelines, character customization and face creation technologies, as well as character art, rigging and animation pipelines.

I began my career as a Character Artist, working on games like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, before moving into rigging, technical art, and then eventually leading teams responsible for developing rigging and animation tools used on several projects in multiple studios.

The new character pipeline for 'Far Cry Primal' is built around a flexible character customization system named Wolfskin, and a cross software workflow supporting both Max and Maya to better empower our diverse art team. In this session Julien and Kieran will describe how they moved from their 3DS Max maxscript-based pipeline, to a cross software pipeline using Python and ShaderFX.
